The Project consists of the construction of a conventional concrete dam on the Guayubín River, in the Province of Santiago Rodríguez, to the northeast of the Paraje de Pastor and to the southwest of the Paraje de San José.
The Project is located in the Santiago Rodríguez Province, 10 km. Sabaneta and consists of a main concrete dam with an approximate height of about 39.65 m above the Guayubín River with a spillway designed for a flow of 1,280.00 m³/s and a lateral closure dam made of rockfill and clay core with variable heights, in the left bank.
The purpose of the Project is to increase the guarantee of water supply to the areas currently under irrigation, supply water to areas that, even with the required infrastructure, are not cultivated due to lack of water, incorporate new areas, supply drinking water and , in the future, to install a hydroelectric power plant with a capacity of 2,000 KW.
In order to improve the quality of life of the residents of the municipality of Miches, El Seibo province, and to promote tourism development in the area, the expansion of the Miches aqueduct is being built, concluding an existing 100 LPS water treatment plant and building a new 200 LPS plant to meet the demand of the hotel zones and sectors of the municipality through a distribution network and a drive line that will guarantee a constant supply of drinking water.
